I find that a denim jacket is a wardrobe staple. Denim is the perfect fabric for this time of year. You can wear a denim jacket now over a simple tee shirt or later with a chunky sweater. In the photo above I have mixed my blue denim jacket with my black jeans.
My denim jacket is from &otherstories. They are offering a similar version this year. They also have a shorter padded one which would be ideal for later in the season. JohnLewis&Partners offer a similar style to the one I am wearing (only small sizes left).
The jeans that I am wearing are Levi 724 straight leg jeans. I find this style very comfortable. I have a pair in the classic blue denim. They suit my figure shape as I can choose a waist size and a leg length. This works as I have a smallish waist and relatively long legs. The other jeans brand that I like is NYDJ although they are a little more pricey than they used to be.

You can see how I wore my denim jacket with white jeans and a tee shirt for the summer here and how I adapted it for the winter with a cashmere roll-neck sweater here.

Such a adorable jacket! Are longer jean jackets more in style this year? I own a traditional jean jacket only. Is that in style this year?
Hello Natalie
Not sure if longer lean jackets are more in style this year. I bought the one that I am wearing last year. I do think that in general jackets and blazers are very popular this year. Wearing a jacket instantly upgrades most outfits in my opinion. Most of us seem to be favouring more casual and comfortable looks these days so just adding a jacket if you go out is an easy way to look more put together.
I have spent years looking for the perfect jean jacket. I’ve try the classic shape in all kinds of sizes even shrunken and then oversized. I’ve tried less classic styles. None of them got worn very often. I just bought a new one that is longer length, shaped at the waist and self belted. We will see if it gets into the regular rotation. Maybe a perfect jean jacket is a unicorn for me!
Hello DeeDee
I hope your new jacket works for you. I definitely find the longer length more wearable and useful for me than the more classic style.
Snap! I have that jacket and I like it for its length, the lack of a collar and its casual style. I do not tie it, but loop the ties at the back and knot them so it slims the silhouette. Anything that slims works well for me! It is an alternative to the usual denim jacket, just that bit different but still denim.
Only problem: I’ve been nowhere this year to wear all my nice things and, at the rate we are going, that will continue. Cannot get excited at dressing up for myself but at least I have lots still to do. Not bored, just impatient but if that’s the worst, I’ve little to complain about.
Hello Sara
Glad you like your jacket. I will try your trick of tying the belt at the back. I think that we are all getting impatient. I like to wear my denim jacket to go for a walk or to the local shops.
A denim jacket is always in style. I wore one on my blog today too!

Hello Elaine
Thank you for your comment.
You look very good in your denim jacket and scarf.
I realize I need to buy more jackets to wear as my third piece. I have tended to do that with cardigans. For this Fall and Winter I will wear my blazers more and try and acquire a few more to enjoy. Thank you for the reminder!
