A Parisian wedding in our village

Saturday is wedding day in our little French village and last Saturday was no exception. According to our local priest (who is in fact a Welshman) this wedding was a grand affair and many of the guests hailed from the 6th Arrondissement in Paris. So I installed myself in my usual seat and awaited the spectacle, which did not disappoint. What do you think?

Nice touch of colour

Definitely my favourite outfit – The yellow really stood out

Not so sure on this one – I admit I did not take a very good photo

A touch sundressy but like the accessories

I have now arrived back in rainy cloudy London so the sun in these pictures is just a fond memory till I am back there in September.
I have a rendez-vous with a top dermatologist and Plastic Surgeon tomorrow. I may reveal all or not I will decide next week.  Have a great week-end and see you all soon.

Thank you for reading. I really love to hear from you and appreciate the time you take to leave comments.

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • I love the yellow outfit with the nude shoes - summery, classy, and happy!

I'm curious; are these French or British women? I assume British because of the hats...:)

    • The women were definitely French as I understood the brides family were Parisians who had a house in the area and were therefore entitled to marry in the local church.

  • As several people have previously noted in other posts, what makes these women seem so unusually stunning is that they are all healthy and of normal weight! As an American, I'm so used to seeing overweight women that a normal-sized, healthy woman looks like a goddess!

  • Your photos are lovely - especially for a reader caught in this endless British 'drought'! How can one live an elegant life in this awful summer we are having? And all those tanned toned legs just make me weep! And the hats were so chic too. You have reservations about the red kaftan one, but I think it's lovely too. Not everyone wants to look the same or comply with the 'traditional' and I think that's the message she gives out.

My only slight criticism would be that the skirts were rather too short - or perhaps I'm just jealous! But I think a large hat needs to be balanced by a longer silhouette, so the yellow one might have been better at mid knee.

A propos of plastic surgery, etc. I've been doing my Eva Fraser exercises for 4 weeks now and the difference is incredible. I've lost that tired look that creeps in after 50 and my face looks plumper and happier. Even my frown line is less obvious. I will be going back for lessons 2 to 4 after the summer.

I revealed my Eva Fraser adventure to a dear 60 something friend who is very well preserved. She let me in on her secret - a Cleo facial therapy machine. It's like Slendertone but for the face. She uses it 3 or 4 times a week. I now know why she doesn't have any smile lines or eye bags AT ALL! I thought she had been doing Botox but no, it seems she owes it all to the Cleo.

I don't know what your plastic surgery meeting is about and don't want to jump to conclusions, but if it's to do with lifting, perhaps a Cleo lift could be explored first.

Thanks for a lovely post - your photos remind me that there is sun and elegance somewhere on this earth!

    • Keep up the good work with the exercises. Slendertone also make a facial exercise machine which I sometimes use. i would say it is probably best to combine both as I am not sure the mechanical version reaches all parts.

  • Very uplifting to see these glam photos, loved the first outfit, the hat is so different. Real tonic in our rain locked current existence! Am also intrigued regarding the plastic surgeon, have to admit though that I love Botox and have also recently had my eyebrows semi permanently 'tattooed', they last about 4 years and so good for anyone with fair hair as eyebrows definitely thin after 50!

  • Duchesse The bare shoulders surprised me too as it is a Catholic church and I thought it would be necessary to cover your arms.
