Today I thought I would create an outfit to wear now and into autumn. August is a very difficult month when it comes to organising our wardrobes. We may well be on holiday or having a staycation. The weather continues to be mercurial here in the UK so let us make the most of any sunshine that appears and wear our summer clothes as much as possible till the days begin to shorten.
I have had a look at some of the new items that are beginning to arrive in the stores. Layering is always the name of the game when it comes to moving from one season to another.
Details of above:
Blue/silver earrings Monica Vinander at JohnLewis&Partners | Blueprint maxi dress MarksandSpencer | Men’s blue hat MarksandSpencer | Denim jacket Hush | Navy cardigan Boden | Pink lipstick Lookfabulous forever | Denim trainers Fitflop | Leather zip bag Hush.
I have also been looking through some of the catalogues that have been popping through my letterbox. Most of them are continuing to show a variety of print maxi and midi dresses in soft autumn colours. This seems to be a trend that is carrying forward from the summer. Print blouses and tops combined with jeans or cargo pants are also very much in evidence.
A winning strategy might be to combine one of these flattering prints with your existing favourite neutrals or if necessary replacing any of your worn out essentials.

These pieces would fit perfectly into my wardrobe colour wise. Being 5'3 I would prefer the dress in a tunic top. After a cool and wet July we are now in very hot weather. Humidex today to reach 40C. Eastern Ontario Canada. I love your blog, there is always something I would like. Unfortunately the duties and exchange are a problem so I try to find something similar here. Nordstrom on-line seems to work.
Hello Sharon
I do put some links in my blog to Nordstrom USA but I guess even if you changed the country on the Nordstrom website so it showed Canada you would still have to pay the duty.
I love this softer take on a denim jacket. I too am in Canada, on the west coast. Jackets are my go-to-I am 5’3” with no waist and small hips. Your blog is a joyous part of my day!
Thank you. Your comment made my day
