An overnight stay in the champagne region of France. We are now back in London and missing the warm weather in the South of France. As it is a twelve-hour drive from door to door we tend to break out journey and stay the night either near Beaune on the way down or Rheims on the way back. This time we stayed in a charming Chambre D’hote Au Pré du Moulin situated in the Champagne area.
The house was originally a farmhouse and had been in the family for three generations. Valerie and her husband had lovingly converted it into a charming home and guest house. She cooked us a delicious french style meal in the evening. Many of the ingredients had been grown in their own garden.
I travelled in my comfortable navy trousers and blue leopard spot top. I found it extremely useful and wore it frequently during my five weeks in France. You can see me wearing it here. (The top is still available but only in a size 8. It does come up quite large)
The house was furnished with traditional french furniture. I guess either family heirlooms or found in the local Brocantes. Very comfortable bed I had an excellent nights sleep.
Valerie cooked us a lovely traditional french diner which we shared with a charming American family and an English couple travelling back from their house in France.
The gardens were sublime with glorious water features and delightful colourfully planted areas. So that is a brief description of our overnight stay in the champagne region of France.
