Auberge du Paradis or Paradise Inn

The journey from our London house to our little hide away in the South of France is about 800 miles.  It is just possible to drive there in one day, and we have done that twice, however I don’t believe in rushing through life. I prefer to take things at a slower more leisurely pace and enjoy the journey and scenery on the way. We normally break our drive at a half way point and spend the night near Beaune. The stomach of France and the heart of the Burgundian wine district. This time we drove a little further down the motorway and ended up staying near Macon where the Beaujolais wine is grown..

We discovered this gorgeous little hotel Auberge du Paradis. It lived up to its name and really was the Inn of Paradise. As you can see from the pictures below the interiors were a delight. I especially liked one of the salons, a room full of wonderful books. I could have spent a whole day in there leafing through the treasures.

As for the food words fail me. We had the menu degustation, which consisted of 8 courses, however they were all so small and delicate that we did not feel stuffed a la Foie Gras. The dishes seemed to be a fusion of the best of french cuisine with a hint of the orient thus scintillating the taste buds.

If you are ever lucky enough to stay there do remember to leave room for the fantastic breakfast.

If you are travelling through France I would recommend Alastair Sawday’s travel books. This is where we find all our little gems.
Thank you for reading. I really love to hear from you and appreciate the time you take to leave comments.

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.
