“Blogging for fame and fortune” in womanandhome magazine

I confess to being a collector and hoarder of women’s magazines. I find them a great source of information and inspiration. “womanandhome” is definitely one of my favourites.  I was therefore thrilled to be asked to participate in an inspiring feature “blogging for fame and fortune” in their April issue.

I was distinctly nervous on the day of the photo shoot about a month ago. However I need not have worried as everybody was so welcoming and helpful that I had a fantastic time. In fact I felt extremely pampered as I had my hair and make-up professionally done. The photographer was very encouraging which resulted in me thoroughly enjoying having my picture taken.

Here is the result:

You can check out their website here.  I would agree with the quote below taken from their site.

“Woman & Home is the UK’s number-one monthly magazine aimed at women aged 35+. Including best beauty advice, fabulous wearable fashion trends, delicious recipes, in-depth health and wellbeing advice, latest looks for the home, plus insightful interviews with celebrities and real women who have achieved remarkable things, woman & home’s pages are bursting with irresistible inspiration. And there are also short stories, travel ideas, exclusive offers, competitions and much more besides! With a raft of top writers and stunning photography, woman & home is a gorgeous, glossy, grown-up package.”

I would love to hear what you think. I find it very gratifying that blogging is gaining such a high profile and especially among the more mature amongst us.

Just read your article in Woman and Home and was inspired to read your blog! I’m a stone heavier than I should be thanks to the menopause so looking for ideas while I manically try to get back to size 12 🙂

      Hi Marie
Hang on in there. I lost the weight I put on during the menopause. Just eat as healthily as you can and get some exercise. Even walking is good.

Thank you all for your lovely comments. I wasn’t sure whether to “blow my own trumpet”. However I do think we bloggers work really hard. It has taken me quite a few years to get to this stage. Lots of perseverance. I recently had to fill in one of those embarkation forms when entering Morocco and was not sure what to put. Eventually I put “fashion”. Now that’s an interesting question. Is there a french translation for “blogger”.

You are an inspiration and valuable resource to women over fifty who want to look and feel good about themselves. The fashion world has focused for so long on youth, they don’t know how to represent us, and women like you are showing them how. Bravo!

Hi Jan My hairdresser was away at the time so I could not get my hair trimmed before the shoot. However I now like it a bit longer so have kept it that way.
