Colour to enliven this seasons neutrals

A shot of colour can be like a shot of adrenalin to our wardrobes. One way to add colour is to pick one  of this seasons “in” colours, making sure that it suits your skin tone, and add it to your neutrals. An instant wardrobe “face lift”!

Bright powerful blue adds intensity to black.

Grey is the perfect foil to show off delicate shades of pink and helps to keep the outfit grown up.

I disagree with the old saying “blue and green should never be seen without a colour in between.” I think deep forest green and navy can be worn harmoniously together.

Which colours would you choose and how might you wear them?

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • The grey and pink are soft and yet rich at the same time. This year's acai (or purple, as I like to call it) would also mix in nicely with pink and grey. I have grey in my wardrobe, but very little pink. Your pink/grey capsule is very seductive to me.

  • I love the grey and pink combination, although it doesn't work for my skin tone (too cool).

I remember my tante Colette saying that if you have to go to hospital, always take something pink with you. It'll cheer you up. Must be a French thing.

    Cheers, M-T

  • I love all those colour combos! I wear cobalt blue and grass green together as well as navy and teal and navy and forest green.

I can't really get away with baby pink, but I can sneak it in with various nefarious tricks...
