Cool cotton tunic and trousers

I have always been a fan of simple stylish clothing. The outfit I am wearing above from CreativeDezigns definitely fits that criteria. Nikki Allen, owner of CreativeDezigns and I met on Instagram. I was immediately drawn to the pared-down esthetic of the outfits on her website. These cool cotton tunic and trousers have been extremely comfortable during our mini heatwave. The petrol blue scoop neck tunic and matching trousers are 100% cotton. The hat I am wearing is also from CreativeDezigns and gives real sun protection (accredited UPF5+)

I have not washed mine yet but am assured that they wash well. As the styles are timeless and classic I can imagine having them in my wardrobe for years to come.

The pale blue plimsols I am wearing are from CharlesKeith.

All the clothes are ethically made in Cape Town. They are 100% cotton. Nikki spends from February into March with the people who make the clothes and accessories so that she can supervise the process from beginning to end. They use an over-dying process to create the subtle unusual colours.

The green crinkle large cotton scarf adds a touch of colour to my cool tunic and trousers. The fabric of the top and the scarf seemed to compliment each other. Scarf available at Chicatanyage shop.

Accessories complete my cool cotton trousers and tunic

The beautiful pendant that I am wearing is another lockdown story. I seemed to have had more time to explore smaller individual brands. Many of which I feel need our support during this difficult time.

The pendant is made by sculptor and artist Sheila Clarke. Sheila mainly worked with clay however after becoming ill she was not able to continue with this medium and reverted back to her former technique of fluid art. Having previously taken a course in jewellery making she decided to join these two forms of art together to create stunningly bright and colourful pendants. She says that she can sometimes see birds and landscapes in the designs. Personally, I see the sky and the sea. You can find her work on Etsy.

The mask I am wearing is from Helene Berman and is available at our Chicatanyage shop. It also comes in a leopard and snake print pattern.

The photographs were taken by Laura Hines. Follow her on Instagram

Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post however the outfit I am wearing was lent to me for photographic purposes and has been returned. The hat was kindly gifted to me.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • On the web page for the top, I loved the way it was described as "Sorry, not great on very petite ladies but you are but welcome to try it". How refreshingly honest. One can only imagine how many more satisfied customers there would be if this was embraced by more retailers.

  • Oh dear! I can foresee several purchases form this website coming up! I looked at the jewellery and had to exercise very strong self control to purchase only one of the many items I could have snapped up. What lovely designs there are. I’m trying not to buy too much until I can start to go out again, but this was too much to resist! Thanks for a great tip off, Josephine. I loved the top you have, in the silvery grey, but it was the silver bangle or the top. The bangle won!

  • Josephine,
Just to let you know that I appreciate your efforts to continue making posts on your blog during the lockdown, when it was difficult to think of something new to say each time.
    Cheryl.

    • Thank you Cheryl I really do appreciate all my readers comments and support.

  • The cotton tunic and trousers that you have shared with us through this article look very simple and beautiful. I really like the cotton tunic and trousers outfit. I would like to see more such articles like this from you in future. Thank you for sharing.

  • Hi Josephine I am always looking for that Perfect White T that will go under a jacket with Jeans/slacks, lots out there but never quite right quality, white, shape etc one that would last and not go out of shape. Have you any recommendations.

    • Hello Sheila
The perfect white tee is not easy to find. I would suggest MeandEm, a bit pricey however I find that they was well and there is a sale on at the moment. I have bought a couple of organic cotton ones from Mango this year and like them. I have bought the M&S boat neck 3/4 neck version and they have lasted well. If you like looser tees Hush is good.

  • When we ladies reach a certain age it is good to have designers who understand at a reasonable price & good disgn
