What do you think about wearing light colours? A cream and white combination can look so fresh for summer; however I acknowledge that light colours are not always practical. All that washing and possibly ironing. I definitely check the care instruction label whenever I purchase a light coloured garment. Dry cleaning is definitely a no-no, much too expensive.
I think the outfit I am wearing above would make a great holiday look. The ivory tie-neck blouse has a laid back bohemian feel. I have paired it here with my classic white jeans. It would look good worn with a flowing maxi skirt. I also intend to pair it with my light blue wide leg jeans, very 70s!
You can see my cream top just peeking out from underneath my blue denim jacket and navy leather biker in a previous post here.
I saw this top in St.Tropez market when I went there last Saturday morning. It looks very similar to the one I am wearing above. Very french and very south of France!
I also noticed some gorgeous kaftans on display and I will be writing about them shortly.
Do you like to combine cream and white for summer or do you find it too high maintenance?

Lovely This is so perfect for where you are.
I wear a lot of cream and white in the summer - mostly tops, gauzy ones over a tank in particular. They look good with my white capris but usually end up over tan or olive ones.
Thank you for your comment Karen, Sounds likes you are creating some great colour combinations for the summer.
I absolutely love that look! However, I’ve been told not to wear white white as it washes me out
Hi Sharon
I am not so into rules in colour as I used to be. I think in the summer with a tan you can get away with it. My top is actually off white which is a bit softer.
I agree and will give it a try.
Sharon, I am not able to wear white either. My better choice is cream, if I can find it. Even my wedding dress was cream colored other than white. You're not alone. If I have to wear a white top, I use a bright colored scarf to put more color near my face.
Great idea Vicki I find that a brightly coloured scarf usually comes to the rescue.
I would live in my white jeans in the summer, if the weather would allow! I have not, though, put cream and white together as I like a strong contrast with the white, especially bright or dark colours on top, with said jeans. For me, it seems to have a slimming effect and white sets so much else off very well. I’ve not gone for the boho tops as I recall them from the first time round! I still find it difficult to repeat styles from my youth as I think I could look as if I’m still wearing the same thing! Please don’t think this is how I think you look, Josephine; I think it is just my hang up and I love that we all wear what WE like now. The tops clearly suit you.
Agree totally re the laundry instructions; all white and cream has to be machine (or possibly hand) washable; I don’t have the money or time for that kind of dry cleaning.
I’m waiting to wear a gorgeous new acid green top with my white jeans, together with my favourite white flip flops; it is cold, wet, windy and 10 degrees here in Derbyshire today!
Hi Sara
I also like a high contrast with my white jeans your acid green sound great I would probably choose a bright blue. My top is not extreme boho just as subtle hint of.
I have just spoken to a friend in the UK and the weather is very bad so I am lucky to be in France at the moment.
I love the look of an oversized white shirt with my jeans or, being a monochrome gIrl, black linen or cotton trousers.
The weather in the North of England is not conducive to white jeans this week but they are ready and waiting! !
I find that " Resolve " helps keeps white white and gets rid of stains and marks so easily. I wear loads of white in the summer and winter white in winter. It is like a magnet.
Hi Gillian
Thank you for your recommendation. I tend to use Vanish. It even got blackberry stains off a white tee.
somewhere I remember reading that you should proactively sparay white jeans with the teflon spray one uses for suede shoes to prevent stains from setting.
Hi Pam
That is an interesting idea I might try it on the hem of my white jeans to check it out.
