I thought that for today’s post I would talk about some everyday outfits I have been wearing this September. All the photographs posted here were taken by my husband with an iPhone so the lighting may not be optimal and there is minimal editing.
Earlier this week my husband and I walked along the towpath to our local Rick Stein Restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. The food there is delicious with an emphasis on fish. They are currently offering a great value three-course lunch menu.
It was a warm sunny day and I wore my silk blouse, many years old and originally from DKNY, underneath my grey check jacket which is about two years old from &otherstories. They still offer similar styles here. My black trousers are from Me&Em last season similar. I do think that their tailoring is excellent. I wore a contrasting tan belt from Jigsaw to add waist emphasis, a very popular look this season.
A lot of women avoid belts. Unless you have an apple-shaped figure I think belts can be flattering as they add definition. If you don’t want to wear a contrasting coloured belt a toning one will work just as well. JohnLewis&Partners have a good selection of belts.
Last weekend we went to stay with friends in Wrexham. These photos were taken in their gorgeous garden. I only took a very small suitcase with a couple of outfit changes. My trusted navy leather jacket by Me&Em was perfect for the sunny slightly chilly weather. The year’s version in Khaki green. I teamed it with a simple white tee and my three-year-old Me&Em stripe trousers. They currently have similar in a jogger style. Black and white trainers similar at Fitflop.

I travelled in my comfortable grey jeans from Winser London, a few years old, plus a pussy cat bow blouse from Uniqlo. My grey longline v neck sweater completed the look.
What I wore for a visit to the Wetlands Centre with my five-year-old grandson and four-month-old granddaughter on Bank Holiday Monday. A short trench jacket from WinserLondon and my Me&Em side stripe trousers.

It is interesting to note that my favourite and often worn pieces come from Brands that I have loved for many years. They may not offer the cheapest options but have all been well worth the initial investment.

Like you, Josephine, I’m a big Me and Em fan, especially in their sale (just bought a great do-everything black jacket with fab price reduction) but I cannot get on with their current trousers. I have 2 or 3 pairs of their past seasons’ slim fit, but the jogger style and very wide ones do nothing for me. The jogger style is so redolent of school gym kit and 80s track suits that I cannot get past that! Wish they still did a choice, but it seems not. Their clothes are of a quality that hopefully, my existing trousers will last years and I can contribute to the “buy fewer clothes” movement!

Thank you for your comment. I am glad you managed to get one of their jacets in the sale, they had some great reductions. I agree that I prefered their more classic trousers however I did buy a pair of their joggers during lockdown and find them very comfortable and useful.
