This is the time of year when we get together with our friends and family to celebrate the holidays. Hostesses put many hours into preparing meals to honour the occasion. As a guest, it is traditional to give your hostess a small gift of appreciation.
This is definitely a tradition in France. Whenever we are invited to a “soiree” we always take a gift for the hostess to express our appreciation.
I find that candles, diffusers and “posh” chocolates are always acceptable.
If you are spending this time quietly with family many of these gifts are good choices for Christmas.

Beautiful gift ideas, Josephine! So elegant. I’ll be visiting York next week as I am exploring my genetic ancestry in that area of England. It’s a long way from Texas, but I’m very excited, as I know Yorkshire is Beautiful and steeped in history. I remember you spent some time there last spring.
Hi Marguerite
I am sure you will enjoy your trip to Yorkshire. You might like to check out my post on York Visit to York and don’t forget to visit Castle Howard which is not too far away. It is magnificent.
Great gift ideas for this Christmas.
