How I wear pink this Spring

How I wear pink this spring

Pink is a big colour trend for Spring. I am not necessarily a fan of following the latest trends nor do I adhere to the so called “rules or advice” for older women. I think you can wear pink at any age. The trick is how you wear pink. A smart pink coat may be the perfect way to tackle this trend.

The important criteria is the style. The same applies to grey hair. If you want to let your hair go grey feel free. If you fancy wearing pink go ahead. Just make sure that the style is modern and fresh and not “granny like” Even though you may be a granny as I am.

I am wearing a simple pink unstructured wool coat by Mango. (I just checked I can’t believe it is sold out already. I does say add to wish list. It has obviously been popular. It may come back into stock).  Straight leg classic jeans (old and very comfy). Same style still available Nordstrom and JDWilliams

Having chosen a sophisticated style for your pink make sure you team it with similarly stylish accessories. Comfortable street style trainers can add an edge.

Underneath the Mango coat I am wearing a grey merino wool sweater. I bought it in the sale from MeandEm . Now sold out however they offer great knitwear all year round. The black and white shopper was a birthday gift from a friend last year. I think she bought it at Conran (The exact  style is no longer available).

Photographed outside our local flower market.

In the photo above I have added a belt and scarf. Worth a try but I think I prefer the coat worn casually it shows the cocoon shape better. Burgundy purse by Jigsaw (available in several colours)

Love the coat on you and that shade of pink is gorgeous. Prefer it minus the belt.

      Hi WendyB

I agree the coat is better without a belt but it was worth a try.

Love love the coat! Not usually a fan of pink, but this is fabulous. I wonder if Boden has anything? I bought my wonderful mint green winter coat and love that. And very nice with the grey underneath.

      Hi Libby

I did have a look at Boden but did not find anything I liked this season. Maybe later in the summer range.

Love the coat, the pink really suits you. I wouldn’t normally go for pink, but it’s a lovely shade I could change my mind…

Lovely colour combinations for our colouring, aren’t we lucky to be grey ! Of course there is a shade of pink for everyone as you suggest, just a case of finding the right one. Being a ‘girl’ i’ve always loved pink, so hurray for this lovely Spring colour.

      Hi Viv

Yes the grey hair does help. The bright pastels, so on trend this season, really work with silver grey.

The coat is lovely on you. Better without the belt. Not a fan of pink, but did pick up a pink T-shirt last weekend to wear with navy pants and a navy knitted jacket. At least it’s a step !

      Hi Eleni

Good for you trying some pink. A T shirt is always the best way to try out a new colour.

Great pink coat. And great on you. BTW, your latest haircut looks wonderful back in London. 🙂

I agree with you that the unbelted version is better. But the belt color (burgundy) makes me want to see that pink coat with some burgundy clothing.

BTW, the Mango price is almost unreal.

    • 7th March 2017 / 14:57

      Hi Ann
I agree with you regarding the burgundy it goes well with the pink. The price of the coat is amazing and is probably one of the reasons it sold out so quickly.

We had a great morning shooting the photos for this post! Pink is such a fun colour and it works really well with grey hair;)! Let’s organise another shoot when you return from St Tropez. Julie x

Lovely pink coat. I do also have a pink one I bought at Mango some years ago and I still love it.

Love this weight and shape of coat. Got one in an intense ultramarine colour from FennWright Manson in the sales – better than pastels with my dark hair.

I LOVE the coat! It looks fabulous with your hair and the silver sweater. I agree that it’s much better without the belt.
