Capsule Travel wardrobe

How my capsule travel wardrobe worked for my three day trip

Isn’t it majestic? This is the rear facade leading to the parkland, orchards and vegetable gardens of Ston Easton Park Hotel in Somerset. We had a wonderful three night stay there. We explored the local area spending the first day in Bath and the second day visiting the beautiful cathedral in Wells.

The parkland around the hotel was so peaceful.

I thought that I would review how my capsule wardrobe worked for my three-day trip. I am happy to report that it worked very well indeed. If you are planning to visit this part of the UK in the near future the following pieces worked well during mercurial weather conditions.

Layers won the day:

It was sunny but with a very chilly wind. My jeans worked well for the first and last days. I wore my lilac sweater and lilac scarf on two days over my white tee shirt. The sweater is a fine Merino wool warm but also thin enough to wear under my blazer. My light coral cardicoat worked well under my Mac for a trip to Bath. For details of items I included in my suitcase refer to My travel capsule wardrobe.

Sitting in state in the main lounge. The interior design was perfect both honouring the history of the building whilst adding modern twists here and there. Several of you like the headband in a previous post. and asked where I had bought it. The answer was in St.Tropez market; I now have a couple available in the Chicatanyage scarf shop.

Layers were also useful for the evening. I wore my black slit dress/tunic the first evening, the red leopard print tunic the second evening both over black trousers. The last evening I wore my wider leg black trousers with a simple cream blouse. The last evening I even added my thermal vest as it got chilly later in the evening. I never travel without one.

I wore the scarves I had packed in rotation and they helped to add variation to my outfits especially in the evenings. Available at shop.chicatanyage.com.

On the second day, we visited the magnificent Wells Cathedral. A wonderfully majestic edifice. You can read more about the history here.

Leaving on the last day and sad to say goodbuy.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Blissful surroundings, grand hotel, magnificent cathedral and the lovely Josephine. Thank you for sharing.

  • I remember visiting those beautiful places. Isn't there a wonderful winding staircase in Welles or is it Bath? I recently went to NYC. Layers was the answer. I also wore scarves everyday.
