How to adapt a print maxi skirt

As summer begins to come to a close I thought I would show you how to adapt a print maxi skirt. I featured this skirt in my post on 6th August where I styled it with a navy blazer. It is from Phase Eight and I bought mine from JohnLewis&Partners (reduced from £69 to £55). It is also available at MarksandSpencer. Today I am wearing mine more casually, first with my navy leather biker jacket originally from MeandEm. Their leather jackets are expensive but they are extremely good quality and will last a lifetime. I bought mine in the sale. My simple white tee is from Cos. My favourite style is their wide neck long sleeve style. White trainers from Fitflop complete the look.

In the photograph, I am wearing my V neck cardigan by Hobbs from JohnLewis&Partners (reduced from £99 to £59). I have been wearing it a lot recently. As I wrote in my previous post on the humble cardigan I find that cardigans are an ideal way to extend your summer wardrobe and still stay warm. It will also transition well when I start to wear my darker autumn clothes.

My photographer is on holiday at the moment so my friend kindly took these photos at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond Park. It is a lovely place to go and have a cup of coffee. The gardens are magnificent and the views from the front of the cafe are stunning. I think she did a very good job.

If you own a maxi or midi skirt how will you be adapting it for autumn?

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Thanks Josephine, I like the femininity of maxi skirts and dresses but wondered how to style them without the classic, but for me, a little cliché, denim jacket. You look pretty in these outfits- thanks!

    • Hi Sue
I agree with the denim jacket but mine is a longer version I think it would look better with the traditional short style.

  • All of these looks are very pretty. Such lovely blues. I think a pullover sweater would be cute also. That skirt was a great purchase! Love the beautiful gardens in the photos. Your friend did a nice job!
