How to adapt a special occasion piece.
Special occasion outfits can be high budget. Many of the pieces often languish in the back of our wardrobes after the event. I try to buy items that I can dress down and integrate into my wardrobe. See my recent post on how I adapted a coat that I originally wore as mother of the groom.
A reader recently contacting me for advice on how she could continue to wear a special occasion coat she had bought about ten years ago. She sent me a photo of her coat. It was from East and embellished with a slightly 70s vibe. The exact style is not still available. However I found a coat in East’s current collection and created a couple of ways in which it could be adapted as part of a more casual look.
