How to adapt a velvet jacket for the daytime

Green velvet jacket and scarf

I love velvet. It is one of my favourite fabrics. It always feels so luxurious. Often we think of velvet as too dressy to wear during the day. So I thought that I would demonstrate how to adapt a velvet jacket for the daytime. Last week I popped into our village to have my hair cut. It was a lovely sunny day and I didn’t need a coat. I wore a turtleneck neck thermal sweater from Uniqlo (US link) to keep the early morning chill at bay and wrapped a large scarf/shawl around my neck.

I could not resist standing outside the pet shop for the photo which was taken by my friend Dee. Spot the grumpy cat in the window. My velvet jacket was from Hush. I bought it in 2018. If you click here you can see the different ways I have styled it over the years.

My new haircut. Not sure that the cat approves!

How I look after my grey hair

Wow Raise the root Dream coat supernatural spray. Gives a lovely shine and silkiness to the hair.

Living proof Dry volume blast. Adds volume and lift in-between shampoos.
Techni Art Fix anti Frizz. Good hairspray to tame frizzy hair.

What a fun post. The lovely jacket is the perfect shade of green and I love the length. It looks charming with a casual outfit. Your haircut is adorable. The window display magically shows 9 cats – the same as the McDermott house!

I just LOVE how you have worn your green velvet jacket over time. My favorite is when worn with your black lace top. So funny…I own a green velvet jacket and I bought a back lace tunic length top to go under my jacket and I plan to wear with a black long skirt. You are so with the times!! Here’s to great classic dressing with a twist!!

Josephine, I looked at the Christophe Robin USA website, expecting to see a shade variation mask in silver. Are you using the baby blonde formula?
    Thanks, Kim
