How to create a casual summer outfit by combining a pair of white trousers with a fresh lilac top. I love pastels combined with white for summer. It looks so fresh and soft. My lilac sweatshirt is from Cos. They seem to have sold out of the lilac colour however have the same style in pink and fresh mint green.
I admit that my lilac summer sweatshirt is oversized. I am about 5’7″ and have narrow shoulders so can take some volume on the top half of my body. There are certainly a lot of voluminous styles around this season, especially for dresses. Whenever I pop into our local village I see women of all ages and sizes wearing loose voluminous shapes. I would encourage you to try a couple of looser styles just to see if they work for you. It is so easy for us to get stuck in a rut with our clothing. You never know you might be surprised.
I have slung a lightweight wool scarf around my neck. It was actually quite breezy the day we took these photos. Even though the day might start out hot you never know with our mercurial climate so I normally take some sort of cover up with me if I am going to be out all day or visiting friends in their gardens.

Love your styling hints. I’m uncomfortable with my entire arm exposed and like 3/4 sleeves better. Some say that draws more attention if it’s really hot weather. Your thoughts please?
Hello Violet
Interesting question. The general rule is that wherever you have a horizontal line that will draw attention to that area. So wherever the 3/4 sleeve finishes that will be where the eye will go. Having said that as we get older I am of the opinion as long as we are comfortable and happy with our look that is more important than the rules. So continue to enjoy your 3/4 sleeves if that works for you.
You look so chic today!! Your advice is so right. Many times we as women get stuck in a rutt wearing the same styles year after year. Try some looser styles and different silhoettes than what you normally wear. You will update your look! If you haven’t changed your hairstyle in five years then this also needs to change!!
