Capsule Travel wardrobe

How to create a weekend capsule wardrobe for June

Last weekend we had a very enjoyable stay at Cardon Park Hotel in Cheshire whilst we went to visit my brother. It was so nice to get out and about again after spending so many months without being able to see friends and family. The weekend capsule wardrobe that I planned worked out well although I switched out a few of the items as the weather was warmer than had been forecast. You can see a few of the outfits I was wearing on my Instagram feed. We are off on our travels again this Thursday staying one night at The Felbrigglodge Hotel North Norfolk. Then we will be spending a couple of nights with friends in Nottinghamshire. I began to organise what I would pack last week. However how to create a capsule weekend wardrobe for June is proving somewhat problematic. The weather is so mercurial at the moment.

I think that I will still be taking my navy mac and grey double-breasted jacket plus my white tee and pink sweater for the evenings, which can still be quite chilly. I will probably swap my black boots for white trainers which look a bit more summery plus I might add my pink maxi dress from Cos. My grey cardigan can be worn with my grey pleated skirt from HopeFashionuk (Hope are currently offering a 15% discount at the moment with code TRYHOPE15. My leopard scarf can be wrapped around my shoulders if necessary.

I shall also be taking my grey pleated skirt by Hopefashionuk as it packs like a dream and doesn’t crease. Also my white lace detachable collar which is such a useful piece to jazz up a plain sweater or tee.

I find that cardigans are worth their weight in gold for travelling as they work with trousers, skirts and dresses.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Hi Josefine. I love your capsule but it looks incomplete to me as I would need a more casual travel outfit with pants or jeans (at present there is only one skirt but I assume you wouldn’t wear it all weekend). However I would love to see all the outfit pictures because it really is a lovely travel capsule.

    • Hello Elaine

Yes i did travel in a pair of plain navy jean style trousers, white tee and grey cardigan.jeans. As the weather changed at the last minute I did swap some of the items for more summery ones.

I will try and take some photos of what I actually wore and write a post as soon as I get back.

      best wishes

      Josephine
