How to dress for the holiday season and beyond

How to dress for the holiday season and beyond. In this post, In this post, I have focused on the “beyond”. I have selected items that I feel will stand on their own merit and will integrate into an already curated wardrobe. I bought a very similar grey pleated skirt a few years ago and find that I can wear it all year round. In the summer it works well with a plain white tee or a cotton shirt. Then in the Autumn sometimes I add a colourful cardigan. In winter it still works with a chunky sweater and if necessary with a thermal vest as a primary layer. You can even wear some thin leggings or opaque tights to keep your legs warm.

The jacket has a soft shimmer so would work for weddings, funerals or just teamed with a pair of jeans for a casual evening out.

The red print top can be worn all year round and adds colour to the face. I can even imagine wearing it in the Summer with a pair of white jeans. The black pumps are a classic. The scalloped edge adds an interesting twist.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Lovely. Not only is it pretty together, but also offers so many possibilities to mix and match with other items in one's wardrobe. I love that each component can be dressed up or styled more casually. Every piece is a workhorse (which doesn't sound pretty, but is something we all need in our closet)! Thanks for this inspiration.
