How to jazz up a pair of plain joggers

Well, here we are nearly at the end of what has seemed like an interminable January. Then all of a sudden it snowed last weekend. At least it created a change of scenery. It was cold but I braved the chill to take some photos in the gardens in front of our house. What to wear? I thought that I would jazz up a pair of plain joggers with some bright colours. I am wearing a thermal vest and leggings under my outfit for extra warmth. You can see a selection that I recommend in a previous post here.

My joggers are from MeandEm. They are the flat-fronted style. They do come up a bit large so you might like to size down or if you are between sizes I would recommend that you order two sizes and send one back (they have free returns). Me&Em joggers are a bit pricey however they wear very well. I bought a pair at the beginning of Autumn. I have lost count of how many times I have washed them and they have kept their shape and still look good.

I wanted to brighten up the outfit so I have added my favourite colour pink. You could just as easily choose a bright red or whatever colour suits you best and helps to lift your spirits. Pink hoodie from Cos Reduced in the sale from £69 to £34.50 but only large size left.

One of the most useful items for layering, when the weather is cold, is a padded gilet. In my opinion the best ones come from Uniqlo . They pack really well and I have several colours.

I bought my lovely large leopard print shawl from St.Tropez market. Sadly not able to get there this year. My ankle boots are by Gabor (similar).

Just found you when Googling over-60 style blogs. You can’t imagine my delight! I’m 67 and even more obsessed with fashion, style and beauty then I was in my teens. And it never has to end. I plan to look pretty, cute, stylish, appealing , etc., etc, as long as I live. I have no problem with my age - I was born earlier than some and later than others. Hi Josephine , Whenever I see the colours you are wearing, on your blog, they "make my heart sing" ( including this gorgeous pink) . I wish we had more access to the various stores you mention, here in Canada, as I find Summer colours difficult to find.

You look fashionable and warm, Josephine. I have one pink shirt and think it is now time to invest in a pink scarf, They would go well with my Uniqlo down jacket. Can't praise the latter enough. It is so light , folds up into its own little bag and yet is fantastically warm.

Hi Josephine I see that you mention Talbots quite a bit for the shorter woman and Nordstrom - do you buy directly from them? How do you get on with returns? My daughter lives in USA (Rhode Island) and I love Talbots clothes (also Ann Taylor - do you know that make?). When sending parcels to my daughter they always cost a lot in postage.
A few years ago we visited San Tropez on a cruise en route to Monte Carlo to watch the Monaco Grand Prix. I loved San Tropez and visited a vintage jewelry shop - Isabella M on Rue de la Citadelle. I bought a wonderful brooch. I wonder if it is still there. Love your blog - it is very uplifting and makes me think about my clothes and makeup every day - even if I am only going to the supermarket (that is my social outing!).   To answer your question I don't buy from the States for the very reasons you give. Tax and duty etc are too expensive. I have in the past but the goods have been held up in customs and expensive to extricate. As I have about 49% US readers I try to find similar items to those I am wearing so that they have a wider choice should they want to replicate the look.
  I know the jewellery shop that you are referring to it is lovely. don't know when we will be able to get back there.
