Christmas

How to navigate the social season sartorially

Today I thought that I would write a post on how to navigate the social season sartorially. It is that time of year again when we are probably rushed off our feet. The run-up to the festive season can be hectic. Presents to be bought, food to be ordered. I find it a good idea to start planning as early as possible. This year we will be spending Christmas in France. Hopefully, we will be seeing some sun as it has been extremely wet and dreary here in the UK recently. We will be hosting a family lunch in mid-December. I will therefore have to organise my wardrobe in advance. I do think that the dress code seems to be becoming more and more relaxed, unless, of course, you have invitations to posh “black tie” events. With small grandchildren to entertain and food to cook I will be keeping my outfits fairly low-key.

I do feel that a bit of sparkle can lift a very plain ensemble. You can even get away with jeans if you add a Lurex top and some statement jewellery.

I will be back next week for more ideas on what to wear during the festive season. If you have any particular requests do let me know in the comments box.

Having said that I will not be covering Black Friday in depth this year While researching for this post I did come across a few sites that are offering excellent discounts (no bought-in rubbish). I have listed them below if you are interested.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.
