How to protect and nourish your skin in the winter months

It is cold outside. It is drizzly, damp and the winds are blowing. It is the time of year when our skin is suffering, becoming dry and chapped. The cold weather can dry out our lips and leave the skin on our hands rough and cracked. Not to mention the constant hand washing and sanitising. The natural oils need replacing. This post gives some hints, tips and products on how to protect and nourish your skin in the winter months.

Many of the products I have tried out or am currently using. I have included budget options as well as a few luxury products. I have both the Cetaphil body moisturiser (the budget option) as well as the Reve de Miel balm oil (the luxury choice) on my bathroom shelf.

Nails can also suffer at this time of year. I regularly rub in Jessica phenomena oil into my cuticles. I also treat my nails to Vitry repair products. They are completely natural and really work at repairing damaged and dry nails. I first discovered them in our local pharmacy in France.

I wrote a specialist post on “How to look after our feet”. It is good to start early and get your feet in tip-top condition for when the Spring and Summer arrive.

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.
