How to wear print trousers two ways

My blogging schedule has been slightly disrupted recently due to the arrival of my fourth grandchild. This time a girl after three boys. I have been looking after her four-year-old brother. Childminding and blogging are not very compatible. They are all now settled back home so I should now be back to my normal routine. In this post I am demonstrating how to wear print trousers two ways.

Print trousers are probably a love or hate style look. Generally being a “plain Jane” sort of girl I normally choose block colours as opposed to prints. However I have owned these asymmetric print trousers for three years and really love them. I find them extremely versatile. They have a sleeveless matching top so could double as a jumpsuit, a style I consider very flattering but do not wear for obvious practical reasons.

In the photo above I am wearing my print trousers with their matching top plus my navy Cos short sleeve jacket from last year and a pair of cream pumps.

A more pared down look teamed with a navy tee. You can see several other ways I have styled my print trousers here, here and the first time I wore them in 2017. I intend to keep wearing them for many years to come. That is definitely not fast fashion.

The pearl necklace is from our ethically sourced jewellery range at Chicatanyage shop.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Hi Josephine, Congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter, what a treat to be able to buy some girly things for a change. Love your outfits.

    Best wishes

  • Congratulations on your new little granddaughter Josephine, I have three and they are a great joy. You look lovely in those outfits, I remember when you first showed the trousers and recognised them straightaway.

  • Hi Josephine,
How do you get your hair such a lovely colour ? I have grown my dyed colour out and are now grey, but it's not shiny but rather dull. I use Philip Kingsley silver shampoo, but there is no shine.

  • Congratulations on the new addition to your family! How lucky for her to have a stylin' Grandma!

  • Hi Josephine!
Congratulations on your granddaughter. She is sure to bring you smiles and surprises!
I love the print top and slacks and have never thought of considering them as a jumpsuit. Like you, I have avoided them for practical reasons. I think navy is a great color for you.
Thanks for all you do to inspire.

  • Congratulations, Josephine, such happy news! I like these print trousers and especially like them with your Cos short sleeve jacket and also with the navy tee and pearl necklace. Of the previous posts, my favorite is with the floaty cream top.

  • You look really great Josephine in those outfits. And you are very lucky to be able to wear tucked- in tops.

  • How wonderful to have a granddaughter! I just ordered the Chico’s geometric print pants you show in black and cream. On sale for 1/2 price. Thank you for this article. You look lovely, as usual, Josephine.

  • Congratulations for your first granddaughter.I know the joy.
    Love your jumpsuit.
