Planning your wardrobe

In between seasons – The humble cardigan

In between seasons the humble cardigan comes into its own. August is always a tricky time of year with regards to our wardrobes. It is still quite warm here in London with a lot of rain about, yet it feels a bit early to start unpacking my heavier woollies.

As I write this post I am wearing a pair of white cotton trousers teamed with a navy tee, and as it is early in the morning and still a little chilly, I have added a lightweight pink cardigan.

Easy to pop on at any time of the day or evening. You can also roll up a cardi and pack it into a holdall if you are going to a friend’s garden for a social distancing get together.

I particularly like the combination of a simple cami underneath a lightweight cardigan. I often wear this combination at this time of year.

For this post I have put together both a warm and cool collage to inspire you to consider how you might add a cardigan to items that are already in your wardrobe.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Cardigans are a crucial part of my wardrobe except on the hottest of days. I feel like I can always add one to my closet!

  • Have lots of cardigans....and always have one with me as stores and restaurants ( when open) were always so cold...air conditioning was freezing! Have a spare in the car for when grocery shopping...
