Lightweight practical Summer jackets

Lightweight practical Summer jackets

My pink jacket has probably been my most worn item in my wardrobe this Spring and Summer. It is lightweight and practical. During May and June the weather in the UK was decidedly chilly yet I was bored with my darker coloured jackets. So I bought this lightweight wool blazer ( reduced from £150 to £90 but only small size left) from Arket. However, they still have a good selection of both neutral and coloured blazers.

I like Arket as a brand. It is Swedish in origin and I find that their tailoring is well cut and they use good fabrics.

I also like their concept of long-lasting design. They source durable and sustainable materials plus they offer a recycling scheme which you can read about here.

Above I have teamed my pink blazer with a pair of Hopefashionuk wide leg foundation trousers and their longline cami. I like the juxtaposition of the feminine and masculine. Pink trainers Adidas similar

A different look with a pair of slim black trousers (many years old) and my favourite metallic ankle boots.

For my American readers:

If you are organised and good at forward planning you might like to take advantage of the Nordstrom Anniversary sale which starts today for cardholders. If you are not a cardholder you will need to apply here.

My advice for perusing any sale is to stick to the classics. They are good opportunities to replace your basics. Check out their catalogue for ideas. I am now off to replace some of my worn–out tee shirts and trousers at the MeandEm sale.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.
