More on the Olympics – What an experience!

What an amazing experience. I still have to keep pinching myself to remind myself that I was there to witness the fastest man in the world win the 100 metres and that it was not all a dream.  The whole event that was so fantastic. The organisation was superb, we did not have to queue for anything not even the “Ladies”, which were well designed and clean.  The tubes ran on time and everybody was extremely polite and welcoming especially the hundreds of volunteers who must have stood for hours directing the continuous stream of people. I was slightly concerned that I might get claustrophobia hemmed in by such a multitudinous crowd but no it was just all so much fun.
As promised here are my pictures. I won’t be applying for a job as a sports photographer any time soon however my excuse is that the circumstances were challenging and I was too caught up with the excitement to get all my shutter speeds correct. Hope you get just a flavour of the excitement.

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • The colours in your photos are lovely! I've been watching from the comfort of my armchair on the South coast and have thoroughly enjoyed the Olympics so far. It takes a lot for me to feel proud to be British, but I really do at the moment, not least because of the cheers of the crowds in the stadia. Apparently the international press have commented on how generous the British audiences have been to ALL atheletes, not just their own.... now that is something to be proud about!

It looks like you have a really good day out and something to remember for a long time to come. Thank you for sharing it with us.

  • That must have been so wonderful to be there! I get so excited, I can hardly bear to watch it live. I have to wait for the replay, when I know what's happened.

  • I thought I was just fine watching the Olympics on my TV and told myself even if I was there I probably would not want to deal with the crowds and all that entails UNTIL hearing and seeing YOUR experience. WOW!!! So glad you were able to go and to share it with us.

I have always wanted to visit London and a friend of mine and I started planning years ago when we first heard the Olympics were going to be there. Our plans did not materialize but I am glad I am getting to hear some first hand experiences and that you are enjoying the moments.

  • Catherine. Yes I did find that the audience cheered for everybody but the noise was deafening when a Brit appeared.
Rosemary I agree it is very nerve racking especially if the finish is close.
