Paris

My stay in Paris update Day 2

On the second day in Paris, Susan and I were up early to make the most of the day. We hit the road running. After a quick breakfast at Les Deux Magots, we headed off to Atelier lumière (Workshop of lights).

It was absolutely magnificent. We entered this enormous warehouse space and were instantly immersed in a full sensory experience of art and music. There were three separate displays. My favourite was Klimt accompanied by classic music including Wagner, Strauss and Chopin.

Susan immersed in the experience.

We then grabbed an Uber and headed for Merci in the Boulevard Beaumarchais. Merci is a charming combination of store, exhibitions and restaurants. We met up with Sharon Santoni. I have followed and admired her wonderful blog My French country home for a long time so it was great to meet her in person.  Sharon is an expert on all things French. Check out her monthly french boxes My stylish French box. They are full of gorgeous french lifestyle products

Merci is full of quirky household products and at this time of year a wide collection of Christmas gifts.

The French do great household products and Merci had some very colourful displays.

I could not resist taking a photo of these plates. The French are very fond of their oysters!

I notice many Parisian women wearing faux fur coats and jackets. The weather was cold and faux fur is a great way to keep warm and cosy.

Selection of Faux Fur:

I love these knitted headbands. They are great for keeping your ears warm and are a great way of disguising a “bad hair day”. As you can see from the photo below I was well prepared and had packed one in my suitcase.

After a good lunch, Susan and I headed back to the St. Germain area. There was still enough light for a stroll in the Luxembourg Gardens. We could of course not resist a quick photoshoot.

Details of my outfit:

Pink wool/cashmere boyfriend sweater // Black foundation trousers Hopefashionuk // Puffer jacket Gerard Darel similar Puffer jacket Hobbs // Suede leather ankle boots John Lewis & partners // Burgundy bag Jaeger similar burgundy camera bag John Lewis & partners // pink leather gloves MarksandSpencer // Pink headband St.Tropez market. I found similar on Amazon // pink/grey scarf St. Tropez market.

In the evening Susan and I met up with another blogger I greatly admire Janice of The Vivienne Files. We spent the evening eating great food at Les Editeurs restaurant discussing all things related to blogging plus life and the universe.

My Day 3 Paris report will include some street style photos and a style report.

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • I love the combination of pinks and black and charcoal you're wearing, Josephine. What a wonderful mini-vacation you've had with Susan.

  • What a wonderful time you both had! I've tried to go to Merci several times but it just has not worked out. Now i must go! I love love those plates: would be tempted to buy a set of 4.

  • Your puffa coat is certainly earning its keep. I wore my Uniglo jacket yesterday and was as warm as toast!!
I bought an Astraka faux fur coat in 1958 and sold it in the 70's it at a profit. Should have kept it instead. :O)

    • I find that the trouble with keeping clothes is that I simply don't have room to store everything. I can remember having some great clothes in the 60s and 70s.

  • OMG! You guys hooked up with Janet of The Vivienne Files! What a trio that must have been. :)

And the show at Atelier des Lumières is to die for!

Finally, that headband is precious on you. It's perfect with your hairstyle. :)

    Merry Christmas!

    • Hi Ann
Yes It was a wonderful evening. Janet is such a fascinating character and I love her blog.

  • I thought the Vivienne Files blogger was named Janice. In any event, you look wonderful and having a great time, too! Merry Christmas!

    • You are quite right Marg. It is Janice. I have changed it. Thanks for reminding me. I seem to have so many things on at the moment that I am not checking things properly.

  • Josephine
What a wonderful day! The pics are marvelous. You look absolutely youthful and stunning in your pink. Love the headband, will have one before the year's end. Keep on enjoying your trips. We do!

  • What a fabulous time you are having, pre-Christmas Josephine, photos are great, and I love the headband. Best wishes.

  • You look lovely! Paris makes everyone’s smile a little brighter! We visited Les Carrieres de Lumieres in Les Baux in September where Picasso’s paintings, among others, are projected onto the walls of a quarry cave with music in the background. The company then expanded to the Atelier that you visited. A unique experience!

Happy Holidays to you. Looking forward to following your adventures in 2019.

    Sandra

  • How wonderful that you and Susan are doing Paris together, with the added bonus of other friends dropping in and out of the fun. Your photo shoot photos are beautiful. I can only imagine the laughs and bonding you shared over food and fashion. Thanks for this rundown.

  • SUSAN is getting to PARIS A LOT THIS YEAR!!!!!!!
I think this is her third trip......?HOW WONDERFUL!
I hope to see her in FEBRUARY at the ADVANCED STYLE BOOK SIGNING!!
SOUNDS like a FUN FILLED DAY!
