New Year purchase – a beautiful grey coat

I just could not resist. It was love at first sight. I normally pop into the jewel-like boutique in our village at this time of year. It may be a small space however it is chock full of some great styles. The buyer has a very good eye in my opinion.

The grey mid coat is by Pablo at Gerard Darel (definitely one of my favourite french brands). It  just spoke to me.

When I tried it on it fitted me like a glove, feels substantial and is of good quality fabric, even the lining is made of cotton and not the usual polyester. It ticked all the boxes and as it was the January sales a good price was negotiated.

It was not easy to locate on the internet however I finally tracked it down at Monshowroom. They do state on the site that they ship worldwide.

If you like Gerard Darel  John Lewis have a good selection with many of the styles on sale.  I particularly like this gorgeous bag.  MeandEm also have some great style mid Trapeze coats.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • It looks lovely on you, but I don't like the positioning of the buttons, won't say what they look like!

    • Hi Lynn Had not occurred to me before you pointed it out. Maybe the photography had accentuated the buttons. Probably not the best style for the "well endowered" which I am not.

    • Hi Janis
I bought the boots in a small shop in St.Tropez last year. I have found some similar at John Lewis and Nordstrom.

  • Looks lovely on you, a super jacket at a great price, I also love Gerard Darel and will certainly look out for "Pablo", although probably not available in John Lewis! Perhaps their dedicated shops or only in France? Or online.

  • perfect coat---looks great with your hair color. I followed one of your links and purchased a wonderful burgundy wrap coat from Nordstrom. I know there is more cold weather to come!

    • Thanks for your comment Sue. Very wise purchase. Now back in London and it is much colder with snow on the way.

  • Absolutely love the coat, and it's plain to see that it fits you perfectly. I agree with the earlier comment about the buttons--such a strange placement for a woman's coat.
