NYFW as seen in the New York Times

My colleague Monique has been in New York for the last few weeks and sent me a link to the New York Times with highlights from some of the shows. She tried to get some photo of women in Long Island where she was staying but it was so freezing that most women were bundled up against the elements.

Yellow continues to be a strong trend colour for Autumn 2015 at JCrew, as shown in the image above.  If you want to get ahead of the game JCrew have some great yellow “looks” in their current range here. (20% off with code Shoppingtime)

Blue is another strong contender from Marc Jacobs

Looks like many of us are going to be slinging fur or fake fur over our shoulders next winter.

Love the rich print and clean lines for these coats at Tory Birch

Evening sparkle at Oscar de la Renta

Saddle bags (fringe optional) are very on trend. I already have one in black which I wear every day.

Prints by Tory Birch. Check out the ones I chose for this Spring here

If you like to pick up on trends early and buy an item that will still look fresh come next autumn.

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Thank you for the beautiful photos. Acid yellow is not my favorite color, nor is it flattering on me but I love the blues.

    • I am with you on that one Sarah. I can't seem to wear the yellows but have started buying blue as I love it anyway.

  • I have a vintage mustard (more than yellow) coloured Aquascutum batwing sleeve jumper and yellow loafers. Great! Have just started following your blog and love it! Many thanks.

    • Hi Sue W. Welcome to my blog and thank you for following. Your vintage mustard jumper sounds great.

  • Now that I have stopped coloring my hair, yellow is not as flattering on me as it once was, but it remains one of my favorite colors. I combine it with grays and black and sometimes just use a touch of it in a scarf. I am happy to see it will be strong in the coming months, as I also have a yellow trench that I love -- silver hair or not.

    • Emily Sounds like some lovely colour combinations. I think with silver hair the shade of yellow is important.

  • Oh, yes, indeed. It's been absolutely frigidly cold here in NY/NJ. The least amount of skin exposed to the elements, the better. That said, however, the sunny yellow, which just looks like spring/summer is just lovely and squarely within my color palette. Lovely post, Josephine.
