It is a long drive down from London to the South of France, roughly 800 miles, our friends manage to do the whole journey in one day but that is a bit too much for me so we always try and find an interesting B & B or small hotel to stay in around Beaune, preferably with the promise of a good diner washed down with some excellent Burgundy wine. This time we were a little late in finalising our travel arrangements and many of the smaller ‘hoteleries’ were fully booked however we did find somewhere that turned out to be lovely, quiet and very welcoming with a really quirky and unusual restaurant just 5 mins walk away. Perfect!
Hotel de Clos – Montagny les Beaune – An old converted farmhouse just on the outskirts of Beaune |
The beautiful garden of the Hotel de Clos – Sadly not used much this season due to the nearly continual rain |
Inside the very quirky restaurant – Le berger du temps |
and the food was delicious |
