Following my previous post My trip to Paris, I wanted to continue to share with you how well my capsule wardrobe adapted to my two days in Paris. Generally, I was very pleased with my choices. However, as I started my journey in the South of France I was lulled into thinking that the temperatures in Paris would be similar or slightly cooler. They were not. It was distinctly chilly when I arrived. Luckily I had brought a couple of large wool scarves which I was able to wrap around my shoulders. Especially useful when Susan and I dined in the local bistros. We sat outside at tables on the Parisian pavements.
What I learnt was that it is always a good idea to add a thermal vest to one’s capsule travel wardrobe. They are light, easily rolled into a ball and take up very little room in your case. On the second morning of our stay in Paris, Susan and I headed to the local Uniqlo store to purchase a couple of their heattech tops. I chose a nude colour (UK) (US). An ideal choice as it works with all colours including white and cream tops. Uniqlo USA
The other addition to my suitcase was an Ultralight down vest Uniqlo (UK) (US). It was a perfect extra layer to pop over my cream sweater.
A trick I always recommend when packing for a trip is to include a variety of scarves. With only two outfits (see my post on (what to pack for a trip to Paris), I was able to create a variety of looks. My leopard print scarf gave my outfit a cleaner more formal feel, whereas my wool shawl kept me warm.

I am most definitely a scarf girl: cannot ever have enough! Question: the vest is a great idea, of course, but don't your arms get cold? You don't even have a second layer/sweater on over the white top. Just wondering!
I've never owned a sleeveless vest/jacket but have always wondered the same! OK you have a warm body but what about your arms? I guess they are only useful if it's a bit chilly rather than cold.
Hi Libby
The vest did have long sleeves and the weather in Paris was a bit warmer the second day otherwise I would be wearing my green parkas over the top.
Love scarves around my neck. Almost keeps me as warm as a coat. Of course I live in Southern Californian. What do you expect. How fun to meet with susan. It’s always a treat to get together herein Los Angeles.
Hi Wendy
I find sleeveless jackets useful for in-between weather and I also sometimes wear them as an extra layer under a coat when it is very cold.
How do the sizes come up at Uniqlo? I am normally a 10. Do you know what that would be for the heatech vest?
Hi Nicky
I am between a 10 and a 12 and I bought a Medium in the Heattech vest. It seems fine I don't like them too clingy.
The vest is great when a parka is too much and a sweater not enough!
Love your outfits and style. A very good inspiration for me this Autumn. Best greetings from freezing Romania! :))
Thank you Cristina
You were very wise in bringing those scarves. You and Susan have the same travveling wardrobe ideas. And they work. I am always too fussy, want to change completely every day. So if I go away for a week, I have to drag a large suitcase with me. Traveling light I can only do for one night.
Love your scarves and those side striped trousers.

Hi Greetje
I heard you had a great time with Susan in Paris.
With regard to suitcases I think if I had to carry a heavy one around with me on trains, planes and metros I would have problems with my back and shoulders which would cost so much in physiotherapy to put right it would not be worth it. So I have no choice but to be very restrictive with what I pack.
That top picture of you is just stunning...love how you draped the scarf! Looks like it was a fun time.
What a fantastic blog, I love the way you put outfits together and the fact you're not afraid of colour. Where did you buy the red feather necklace in your profile shot please? It's gorgeous.
Glad you like the blog. I buy most of my necklaces in St.Tropez market. You can find similar on Etsy
