Practical coats for the British climate.
I had a friend to stay recently. She was over from South Africa and is used to a much warmer climate than we have in our intemperate British Isles. She was on her way to Edinburgh to visit her daughter. Before she even contemplated her trip to Scotland she was determined to find a suitably warm and waterproof raincoat to keep her protected from the elements.
We headed for the shops in search of a suitable coat. She had been recommended a brand called “Seasalt”, which I had not previously heard about. We tracked it down to John Lewis in Oxford street and she was able to try on several different styles before finally settling on the one above – The Jannelle waterproof coat.
I spoke to her recently and she is thrilled with her purchase and is finding it indispensable for the chilly streets of Edinburgh.
Whilst I was in Oxford street I popped into Uniqlo to have a look at their collaboration with Lemaire and was impressed with the above hooded coat. Christophe Lemaire’s main range can be found at Matches.com The clothes are very elegant and beautifully tailored, however do come with a high price tag. The Uniqlo version is a good way to get the look for less.
