This beautiful shearling/sheepskin coat has been one of my favourite pieces for many years. I bought it in about 1998 from a upmarket mail-order company (now long gone). It is by Cerruti, I recognised this quality Italian brand from my days as a PR working at Browns.
I tracked the coat for a few months and then when it was finally reduced in their end of year sale I grabbed my chance. It was expensive but I have never regretted the purchase.
I remember the first time I wore it I felt like a million dollars and that emotion has lasted ever since. It keeps me extremely cosy when the temperatures drop to freezing and the north wind blows.
Depending on which part of the world you live in it may seem counter-intuitive to purchase warm winter coat at this time of year. However if you have always wanted one and you choose wisely it should serve you well. Many of the styles are now reduced in the sales.

Beautiful coat, looks right up to date and suits you so well. Took your advice and shopped my closet. Found an old faux fur jacket bought about 16 years ago! I had followed the jacket until the store went out of business.....Original price $600.00 sale price $199. It is in perfect condition.

Can a shearling coat be altered, do you happen to know? I bought mine in 1998 too. The coat is timeless, but sometimes our shapes are not! I lost 70 pounds five years ago and my warm beloved shearling has been sitting in the closet since then. I can't bring myself to part with it and would love to be able to wear it again. Is there any hope?

Yes I think there is hope. I had a black leather biker jacket altered. I will be featuring it soon. It is not going to be easy. You need to find an expert I would suggest trying a furrier or someone who is used to working with leather or fur. It will probably be quite expensive but if you still love the coat worth it.
It looks beautiful on you and you made me smile - I purchased my shearling coat on the hottest day of August for a ridiculously low price. It was quite possibly the best bargain I ever encountered! I'm always shopping 'off season'.
