Simple dress plus cardigan combo

Sometimes it is nice to slip on a simple dress and cardigan combo. Worn here with a pair of turquoise drop earrings and strappy black sandals.

When traveling and in France I keep my wardrobe minimal. Luckily except for December and January there is no need for thick bulky coats. During Spring days are hot and sunny. Ye the early evenings have a chill in the air, especially if the “mistral” is around.

In my opinion cardigans get a bad press when worn by older women. I thinkif you keep the colours bright and the shapes simple they can be a good wardrobe staple. Rolled into a ball they can be tucked into a holdall for emergencies. There is nothing worse that starting the day warmed by the sun only to find that by the afternoon the sun has disappeared and a coverup is needed.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • You look so gorgeous in that mix of blues! I agree that cardigans often get a bad "rap." Wouldn't consider traveling without one at any time of year.

  • You can never go wrong w/a great dress in a neutral color and a bright cardi. You look lovely, and that combination is perfect for spring in France.

You never want to be caught w/out a cover up when the temperatures drop. So true.

  • I love a dress with a cardigan - very easy to wear and feminine too. I think the secret is to make sure the cardigan isn't too long or baggy. I've just ordered one of those Winser dresses! I'm excited!

  • Just wanted to let you know - my Winser dress arrived this morning (very quick service) and I love it. It hangs beautifully and is the perfect length; it comes just below my (fat) knees. Thanks for the heads up on the sale - I can't normally afford this brand but this was a good buy in the sale.
