Soft cashmere for summer

Soft cashmere for summer. I am definitely not packing all my cashmere sweaters away anytime soon. I will probably put my chunkier greys and blacks away until Autumn. However, my brighter and lighter tones will be staying in my wardrobe.  There will be plenty of Spring and Summer days when a cashmere sweater or cardigan will come in handy. Cashmere knits are especially useful on a chilly Spring/Summer evening.

They always look good with trousers, however this year I will be experimenting and wearing them over a couple of my dresses thus creating a sweater/skirt combination.

The candy pink cashmere sweater I am wearing above is by WinserLondon. The style is taken from an Audrey Hepburn look. I admit being biased towards the colour pink however if this colour does not suit you the style is available in nine other colours.

I particularly like the fact that this sweater has a wide neckline which means that it can be dressed up for the evening as well as worn casually during the day. There is a matching cashmere wrap for the super luxurious look for that first class travel style!

The trousers I am wearing are also by WinserLondon.

Ruby red necklace several years old similar. Navy ankle boots old similar Nordstrom and MarksandSpencer

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Hello Josephine! I live in the Houston TX area (USA). We have a shorter spring season and a longer summer season than your area so in March I'm already looking to the long summer and wanting to be prepared. The challenges I face are finding clothes with breathable fabrics. I'm also not fond of sleeveless fashion. Can you offer any general suggestions for a retired teacher who loves to travel, be active, and keep learning. I'm looking forward to your 2018 summer blog.

    • Hi Jeannie
It has been such a long cold winter this year in Europe that it has been hard to think of warmer weather however I will shortly be getting round to more summer styles. Breathable fabrics are becoming more and more difficult to find as many Brands are using polyester fabrics but I will do my best.

  • That outfit looks so comfortable as well as lovely. Almost swing style over the tummy, great for good weight but apple shaped me. Perfect for Australia's coming winter. Thank you.

  • Yes you are right Lynne it is swing style. Most of my sweaters are now trapeze style which I find much more forgiving around the tummy area.
