Firstly I would like to welcome all the new readers to my blog. I love comments so please join in the conversation. Let’s spread the word that style is not limited by age.

I just love this photo taken by my blogger friend Julie of Jafinthebox.com.  It was taken on the Southbank against a magnificent graffiti mural. The navy spot blouse I am wearing is from FineryLondon also available at John Lewis. I used to wear blouses many years ago. I am glad that this season they are back in fashion. This means there are some flattering styles available in the shops.

I have teamed it with a pair of classic jeans (US) and my new leather boots by Vionicshoes (US link).

I wanted to show you how versatile blouses can be. In the above photo, I am wearing my blouse tucked into a pair of wide-leg trousers. This gives a completely different silhouette. Whether this look suits you or not will depend on your figure shape. I am lucky in that I have a small waist to hip ratio and can wear wider trousers. Although these days anything clingy, especially skinny knits no longer work as they show up my less than trim (despite pilates)  stomach area.

The above image shows my blouse in more detail. I like the addition of the subtle feminine frills. Not too overpowering.

I also think the juxtaposition of the small and large spots adds an unusual twist.

My silver pearl studs with double chain earrings are by Claudia Bradby. I have always loved pearls. This combination of pearls and chains give the pearls a modern and edgy feel.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Josephine you look lovely in anything you wear. You are so slim. I am a plus size lady and I have to choose my clothes carefully.I really liked your pearl earrings that have the chain on them. I am so glad that I found you on sixty and me that one time. I do enjoy the anticipation of what is to come next with you. Please keep doing this for all of us ladies especially all of us ladies the the US where I live. ☕

    • Hi Debbie
I am not that slime, I am quite pear-shaped. The pearl earrings are lovely. If you shop at Nordstrom they have a good selection of plus sizes in up to date styles.

  • I love that mural. It would make a great print for a scarf. I have similar colouring as you and I like to analyze how you wear contrasts. This outfit is great in transitioning from your light hair through the polka dots to the dark pants then the lighter shoes. One of my favourites. I also like you in the red sweater from a previous post.

    • Hi Sharon
I agree that mural was a great find. I do still wear black however find that navy is softer near my face.

  • Good to hear blouses are back in fashion. I have a daily "uniform" of white/cream blouse (Eastex),, black trousers, and colourful cardigan/jacket.
Love polka dots and never dispose of mine as the fashion always seems to return.

    • Hi, Mary Thanks for your comment. I prefer spots to stripes. Must take another look at Eastex have not bought from them for many years.

  • I'm loving the 70s vibe of a long-sleeved blouse with wider leg pants. This look works very well for us pear-shaped women (even when we're carrying a bit of a extra weight). It shows off a narrower waist and is one of the most feminine pant looks ever. Perfect for the office or an evening out.

  • Hi Josephine, I am new to your blog coming via LFF. Am enjoying your posts as great to learn forest green back in fashion ( already bought a sweater!) plus red. Blue reds suit me as Imam cool toned. Taken on board your advice about loose fitting clothes as am Apple shaped!

    • Welcome to my blog Carol. Glad you like it. You will see lots of cool-toned colours in my photos as they suit me best although I do try and give some warm options as well for my warm toned readers.

  • Josephine, we're on the same wavelength! I've added a couple of soft, floral blouses to my wardrobe this fall. Yours is so versatile, what a great choice! And I love your modern pearl earrings.

    • Hi Susan
I love the floral blouses you have recently featured. I would like to find one with a navy background and a similar a large floral print. I will keep looking.

  • Love your choices. I don't think I'm the blouse tuck in kind of person. I think my waist is a little short and a little wider these days. But I love the blouses that you don't tuck in. Great prints. Really lovely post. You look so good in everything!

    • Hi Sandra
Thanks for your comment and kind words. Most of us are wearing our blouses un-tucked these days.

  • Yep...all of us old chicks are hanging in there! Maintenance and acceptance are paying off. Nice to hear some of our younger "peers" doing what we have done for years.
