At this time of the year I tend to become reflective. I indulge myself by pondering on the events of the year that has just passed and to contemplate the one about to begin. A little like tidying ones filing cabinet or re-arranging ones wardrobe. I like to start the new year with all the previous years major events tidied and filed away leaving a clean space for the events to unfold in the coming twelve months.
I don’t know about you but 2013 consisted of storms followed by periods of calm, waves followed by light. The birth of my second grandson and the engagement of my son. Both in themselves events of light. Yet often the happiest of events can be surrounded by storms and waves. Any major change in ones immediate environment can create turbulence for a while until the environment calms and settles.
I am fortunate to be currently in France where I have beautiful long beaches on which to ramble or sit and reflect on life and the universe. If you sit calmly and wait long enough the world has no option but to unfold before you in all its glory.

Hopefully, 2014 will begin with calm waters. I also went through many storms last year, but weathered them better than I have in the past.. I just want to make sure I stand strong and not get blown down as storms are inevitable. I hope you get to laugh today and begin this year with smiles!
