Summer in the South of France

Summer in the South of France is all about the sun, sea and beach. What bliss to feel the fresh sea air on my face. We went for a long walk along the beach at La Croix -Valmer. We thought that it would be less crowded than Pampelonne. It was still fairly busy.

I am no longer a “beach bunny” and do not like to lie in the sun all day as I used to (very bad for the skin); however I do still like to swim. I was wearing a pink swimsuit under my short kaftan ready to dive into the sea for a quick dip to keep cool.

It has been so hot here in the South of France that I ran out of cool summer dresses to wear. Trousers; even my wide linen ones were just too hot. I could not resist this cotton green print floaty maxi dress. I found it in a small boutique in the village. Long wafty maxi dresses seem to be the uniform for most women here at the moment.

I found a similar one in the sale at MatchesFashion and a pretty yellow one at MarksandSpencer.

We have been coming to this area of France for about ten years; you might like to see some previous post from Grimaud and St.Tropez here and here.

A short post today as it is just too hot and I am feeling too lazy to do much work. I need to make the most of our summer break in the South of France before we return to London at the end of next week.

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • It looks beautiful Josephine and thank you for taking the time to let us have a sneak peek. Relax and enjoy your glorious location.

  • Thank you for showing the photos of Croix Valmer. I went there every year with my parents in the late 60s and early 70s so these views bring back happy memories. Have a great holiday. I expect there have been some changes since I was last there!

    • Hello Sally
Glad the photos bought back happy memories for you. Like most places I am sure it is much more crowded now.

  • You look fabulous in that dress Josephine! Here in the province of Quebec it’s very hot too. Nice lakeside beach chez nous , though I’m not sure that people are as chic as in St Tropez!

  • Also by the sea here in Greece where I live. Too hot at the moment ! I've envying your lovely wafty dresses as it is quite difficult to find linen ones here. It's funny how the local women wear tight jeans and black leggings even in hot weather. I always have to order what I want from the UK ! Enjoy the rest of your much needed break.

    • Hello Maisie
Only the young seem to wear jeans or leggings here. I don't think that they feel the heat as much.
