These boots were made for walking.
I find ankle boots the most useful footwear, I wear a pair most days with my jeans or trousers. A couple of pairs were looking a little tired and needed replacing, at least that was my excuse!
The sales in France are not as generous as they are in other countries often only offering about 20% or 30% off, but as they say “every little helps”. So when the shoe shop in St. Tropez started their sale I could not resist. I bought two pairs, one casual with a nice thick rubber sole, very comfy, and a classic riding boot style with straps.

I've never really been a boot person, although had two pairs for bad weather. Then, recently, I needed orthotics and the first thing I thought of was a new pair of ankle boots. But, of course, I am limited as to what brand/style will hold an orthotic. Ended up at Nordstrom with a Munro boot: love love love. Can't say enough good things about the boot and the brand! And yes, now I wear this one pair of boots every day….hmmm, time to go shopping for more orthotic-friendly shoes!
Hi Libby
I too used to have to wear orthotics. I found that brogues worked well and they are in fashion at the moment.
Sadly, it is hard for me to find any shoes or boots in my size/ I wear an 11 slim, and almost no shoe companies make that size. Sometimes I can wear a boot in an AA size but even that is becoming harder to find. And over size 10, it appears that the ratio changes so that an 11 is much wider even than a 10. I do wish that manufacturers would recognize that not everyone has a fat foot. Munro is about the only brand that still makes my size, so I have to pay $200 to get a look that is not quite as exciting as what my friends can get for much, much less.
Hi Emily
Duoboots are good for different fittings. I have checked and they seem to go up to a size 11 and have a US site link:
I love ankle boots! Whatever the boot height, I avoid those where the sole extends too far past the body of the shoe or boot. I don't know why anyone makes them that way, I always feel like I'm tripping over my feet when I've worn them. Libby, try Merrill, I think most of their shoes and boots have removeable footbeds that can be replaced with your orthotics.
Hi Josephine. Can you tell me the makes of your lovely sweater and jeans. They look just my style. Also love the boots

Hi Margo
Am travelling back from France to London at the moment will get back to you with details and links asap.
Since I live in trousers, in a very cold climate, the iconic Australian Blundstone is my boot of choice, I wear both the winter model (sheepskin insoles, lug sole) and the finer chisel toe model. They are much-loved worldwide, and a big plus is that they're built to last. Love the style with coloured sole.
Rita: Thank you for the suggestion! I went shoe shopping yesterday…but this time it was for sandals/open toe to wear in Florida. Oh my: an entire new shoe wardrobe due to this orthotic/foot problem issue. And yes, the options are limited!
