The joy of a good quality watch

My navy tweed blazer is from MarksandSpencer.

There is nothing like the joy of a good quality watch. An elegant, well-designed watch helps to complete any outfit. I was thrilled when Nordgreen contacted me to ask if I would like to try out one of their stylish watches. As my colouring is cool and I have a passion for both pink and purple I chose the Infinity rose gold with a pink leather strap.

I am a great fan of Scandinavian design as my prefered style is minimalist. I like to keep the core elements of my wardrobe simple and in my opinion, the Scandinavians are the masters of simplistic design. Think Cos and Arket both of which I have featured many times on this blog.

Nordgreen Watches. Three Reasons Why They Are Great!

1. The watches are designed by Jakob Wagner, Wagner is one of Scandinavia’s most heavily awarded and respected designers, with over 20 years of experience designing for international companies including Bang & Olufsen and Hay.

2. Social Responsibility – Your watch is the start of your story, with each watch you purchase you have the unique ability to donate part of that purchase to the cause that means the most to you! Read about their “Give back to the cause of your choice” here

3. I strongly believe that we should get the most mileage as possible out of our wardrobes and that includes accessories. I love the idea of being able to change my watch strap, et voila virtually a new watch. If you decide to add new colours to your wardrobe you can easily change your watch strap in order to create a streamlined overall look. Just as you might curate your wardrobe you can build up a collection of neutral coloured straps and then add a couple of colourful options for fun. Nordgreen offer a variety of different styles and colours of watch straps. (There will also be a vegan leather option coming soon).

My purple sweater is from Hopefashionuk and scarf from Chicatanyage shop

I have found my watch extremely versatile. It looks just as good with a tailored jacket as it does with a more casual sweater and scarf outfit.

My husband has a birthday coming up at the beginning of March. He loves watches and has built up quite a formidable collection over the years. I am planning to add to his collection from the Nordgreen Men’s styles.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • You look beautiful in the pinks and purples! Does Nordgreen sell in the U.S.? Never heard of them.

  • You look stunning in that pink coat. I still wear the Gucci bangle watch that my husband gave me on my 40th birthday, 30 years ago! The watch you are featuring is vey elegant too.

  • I love all the color your wearing. I must admit I'm smitten with my Apple watch.

  • I still LOVE that blazer, Josephine! It's gorgeous....and the beautiful watches! Yum.
And, I also have a Gucci bangle received about 30 years ago; I forget about it, shame on me. I'll have to take it out of the drawer and enjoy it again. Thanks for the reminder.

  • Josephine - I am in LOVE with that blazer. It's gorgeous. The watch is simply stunning in its simplicity.
I also have a Gucci bangle that I received about 30 years ago just as someone stated; it's been sitting in my drawer forgotten; I think I'll bring it out again to wear it and enjoy. It had various color trims to twist off/on so you could "match your outfit." (For some reason, it seems my original comment(s) disappeared. Sorry if this is a duplicate.)

  • I love my Nordgreen watch! It was one of the generous giveaways that Susan Street (Susan After 60) offered on her blog in December and I was thrilled when my name was drawn.

  • Josephine, first I would like to say you look stunning in that gorgeous navy blazer paired with lavender/purple! I’d never have thought of that combo on my own, which is another reason I’m thrilled to have found your blog. I also love your new beautiful watch and the philosophy behind the company that creates it. I’ve not purchased a watch for myself apart from an Apple watch, which is what I now wear most days because I like to track my steps. My parents presented me with a Cartier watch when I graduated from university, and I eventually inherited my sweet mom’s Cartier Tank Francaise. They are both very basic utilitarian watches—no diamonds or anything like that, but I feel they are so special in that they both came to me through my parents. I’ve kept up to their yearly maintenance and am astounded at their longevity, so I never had need of another watch, but yours is is so gorgeous it is tempting me into ‘needing’ another! Your pretty pink watch band puts me in mind of Louis Vuitton’s rose ballerine color (which I adore), and a couple of seasons ago Mulberry had a similar color called rose water (wish they’d bring it back). I bet your watch band would be a great match for both of those!
