I love cardigans, long or short. At what length you choose to wear your cardigans will depend on your height. Personally, I like my cardigans to cover my bum and stomach area.

Cardigans make great in-between season additions to our wardrobes. They are extremely versatile and practical. I bought this silver grey cardigan recently from the new John Lewis & partners range. It is 100% cashmere and I consider a reasonable price considering the softness and quality. I recently included it in my Capsule wardrobe for France. It rolls up into a small ball for packing and has been a useful piece to wear here in France in the evenings; when the sun goes down and the temperature drops.

I have teamed it with my new burgundy trousers also from John Lewis & partners. The burgundy seems to have sold out, however, they still have stock left in navy and black. They are meant to be ankle grazers, however, I let the hem down on these ones as I have quite long legs and prefer them to cover my ankles.

My burgundy trainers are from Lands’ End. I bought them last year; however, they still have them in stock and they are reduced from £65 to £32. They are very comfortable and a little lighter than conventional trainers.

I bought the scarf I am wearing from St.Tropez market last year. I am currently down in the south of France and am trawling the market to see if I can source something similar. Many of you leave comments or email me asking where I purchased my scarves and jewellery. So we have a plan to open an online shop connected to the blog. This means that we will be able to offer you a range of scarves and jewellery personally selected by me.

We are in the process of developing the site and will let you know as soon as it is ready.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Oooh, I look forward to being able to buy some scarves from you from the South of France. You have worn some lovely ones that a I have coveted!

  • Yes, I also love cardigans. Consider them "National costume" for the UK!! Versatile and useful with our climate.

  • I'm a big fan of cardigans too. Best wishes with your on-line shop which I am looking forward to seeing soon. It should do very well as you have great taste in jewellery, scarves and accessories as well as looking lovely in them.

  • Great for traveling too. Comfy on the flight. You can pack and wear light clothing but with a cardigan you can cope if the weather turns cool, or step off the plan in the UK in comfort. A shell rain coat would complete the all weather capsule wardrobe.

    • Hi Kathryn
I am never on a flight without a cardigan or a wrap. I also always have some type of packable rain coat with me.

  • I like the way cardigans look on others, but they're difficult for those of us with small shoulders.

    • Hi Rita
I have very narrow shoulders and as long as the cardigan is not too straight cut and has a bit of flare at the bottom they are fine.
