Trip to a pretty village in the hills above St. Tropez

It is wonderful to be back here in France. September is one of my favourite months. The soft scents and sounds of mellow fruitfulness. The grapes have been harvested. The sun is still shinning yet there is a piquant freshness in the air. Gone is the humidity and searing heat of August. The crowds have dispersed after the summer holidays and a gentle peacefulness has returned. All is right with the world. We took the opportunity to drive into the hills and visit one of the prettiest villages (except ours or course) to luxuriate in the late Autumn sun. I do love exploring the wonderful corners and narrow streets tucked away in behind the main squares. I hope you will enjoy the photos and perhaps be able to follow the journey of exploration and imagine the heavenly aromas and pick up on the atmosphere of the South of France on a lazy sunny Saturday.

Our first impressions

Bags of all colours

Husband in the shadows

I love those tucked away courtyards

I am never without my hat and glasses

I find those tucked away quiet corners fascinating

All ready for an aperitif this evening

A very good idea

I’m off for a cool glass of rose. See you again soon

Chicatanyage

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • Hi Maryl
The village we visited was Bormes-les-Mimosas, it is really delightful and well worth a trip if you are in the area. We also love Les Collobrieres, there is a very good restaurant there and it is especially interesting during the chestnut season (which is soon) when they start to harvest the chesnuts in preparation for making the "Marrons"
