This sumptuous green velvet jacket from Hush (reduced from £129 to £105) is one of my major purchases this season. I am extremely happy with it. It can be dressed down with jeans and a sweater during the day and dressed up with a pair of statement earrings for the evening.
Green used to be one of my favourite colours when I had golden blonde hair. I have not worn it for many years, probably because I was not able to find a flattering shade till now. Greens with a yellow undertone do not work for me.
I have teamed my jacket with a pair of wide-leg black trousers, several years old. After many years of wearing slim or skinner trousers this season I am preferring straight or wider cut styles. I am finding them more flattering on my wider hipped figure. I can still wear my narrow trousers provided I wear a long and preferably trapeze style top over them, however, I feel more comfortable in the slightly wider cut.
Underneath the jacket, I am wearing a cream roll neck sweater from MeandEm (a couple of years old). They have an even better one this season which has a detachable roll neck.
This jacket will be coming with me to Paris this Thursday. I will be swapping the cream roll neck I am wearing here for my Heattech off-white polo top,(US link) as it can be very cold in Paris at this time of year.

Another winning combination, Josephine. Green suits you and it's a colour I love, particularly jade green.
I think a velvet jacket needs to be a good quality velvet as the cheaper version adds bulk and never seems comfortable: well that's what I've learnt. I have a black velvet jacket that is stored away when velvet isn't in fashion and is then "recycled" when it is.
You are quite right Mary. Velvet needs to be of a good quality. I feel that my green one is reasonably priced for the quality.
Yes, I had a look and was very tempted! Might even succumb! :O)
You look so pretty in this blazer. Green and teal are my go-to colors. Bon voyage et amuse-toi bien!
Stunning colour on you. Doesn't look bulky like some velvets. Could be worn over a long silk frock on the way to a party. Sigh
You are right Lynne it would look good worn with a dress. I am still searching for the ideal one.
Gorgeous jacket, Josephine, and I really like it with the fuller pant. Do you prefer to wear fuller pants with a shoe with heels or would you also consider wearing with flats? It seems that I've gotten away from heels. Stay safe in Paris; it sounds scary! Looking forward to reading about your trip.
Hi Melmi
I do think wider trousers look good with a heel. I still wear either a block or kitten heal but not often these days. Luckily I am tall enough to get away with flats and wider trousers and with the trainer trend still very popular they seem to look OK.
Love your Green Jacket Josephine, not a colour I have worn for a few years, but seeing how good it looks on you I may try again. Have a good trip.
You and Susan will look very plush together ;)
That is a stunning blazer and looks stunning on you! I purchased a burgundy/wine colored blazer last fall and love the lush look.
Oh, it's lovely Josephine! Can't wait to see you!!
