Walking in the French countryside

At this time of year I like to get out into the countryside for a good bracing walk. It has been a bit too damp and misty this year in the South of France for walking on the beaches, which I normally love. However we are surrounded by some stunning fields, hills and vineyards which are very beautiful at the moment with all the wonderful mellow winter colours.

My waterfall coat is some years old by DKNY. A very similar one here at Asos.

I find that a soft waterfall style coat or jacket is easy to wear and can look dressy or casual depending on accessories etc. It seems to suite my “pear shaped” figure as the fabric drapes softly over the hips.

I have teamed it here with my pink silk blouse from Uniqlo, I bought mine in the summer; the winter version is a slightly warmer tone.  For some extra colour I have added a black\pink scarf; which from memory I bought in the St. Tropez market some years ago.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • France seems to be much more scenic than north Texas this time of year. Still waiting for the snow drifts to melt. I can get out to fill the bird feeder, which the cardinal seems to appreciate. Enjoy your vacation---I love your coat.
