What will you wear on Xmas Day?

What will you be wearing for Xmas day. Will it be dressy or casual? Personally I like to wear a dress with some dressy earrings and flat shoes. Plus the essential apron/pinny to avoid splashes of turkey fat spoiling a nice dress.

After all that food you may well feel like a brisk walk to shake down all those calories. In which case a classic pea coat bright red sweater paired with jeans might be a good choice. A cosy beanie hat and sturdy boots are practical additions.

Later in the evening, depending on what time you eat your Xmas dinner you might fancy a change into a pair of pull on palazzo pants and a cosy cashmere sweater. The white Stan smiths can be replaced with warm house shoes or slippers.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.

  • I'm undecided what to wear. We are going 250 miles south and the temperatures are supposed to be quite warm. I had planned on wearing a green velvet shirt and olive pants, but those will probably be too warm in the kitchen. Oh well, on to plan B.

  • I try to choose something comfortable (normally trousers) that's a bit glam . I will be playing with the grandchildren, so the outfit has to play many roles this year.
    Have a great Christmas

    • Hi Laurie
I agree with you when playing with grandchildren clothes need to be practical. We had a pre-Christmas dinner yesterday with a 5 yr old, 2yr old and 4month old before we head for France. I wore a pair of wide black trousers (washable) and a cream top (also washable) Christmas day with friends in France I will probably wear a dress.
