Wishing you a very Happy Christmas

I would like to take this opportunity of wishing you a very Happy Christmas. I will be taking a break over the holiday season. Sadly we are not able to go to France and explore the Christmas markets there so I will be spending my time watching movies and continuing to pack boxes for our house move in the New Year. Below are some of the movies I have been watching recently. Quite a few are golden oldies. If I like a movie I have no problem watching it again. I find that there is always something that I missed the first time around. If the cinematography and the acting are good it will keep me engaged.

Made in 2014. I must have missed it the first time around. I watched it recently and found it well-acted and fun. Good to see older actors and actresses having adventures! Some great cinematic scenes of Paris.

A weekend in Paris watch on Amazon Prime

This acclaimed BBC adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s (Brideshead Revisited) novel follows Paul Pennyfeather (Jack Whitehall), an unassuming Oxford theology student whose expulsion finds him working under headmaster Fagan (David Suchet, Poirot) at a third-rate private school in Wales. “A hoot and a riot.”

Classic and very upper-class British

Available to watch on Amazon Prime

One young mother’s incredible story of survival and resilience as she navigates the world of poverty, abuse and redefines her worth against all odds. Inspired by the New York Times Best-selling memoir by Stephanie Land, and from the Producers of Shameless and Promising Young Woman.

I was not sure when I first started to watch this series but somehow I got hooked. The characters are very well portrayed. The main character shows great strength and perseverance against what appears to be insurmountable odds.

The Maid Netflix

The Piano is a 1993 romantic period drama starring Holly Hunter, Harvet Keitel, Sam Neill and Anna Paquin. The film focuses on a mute Scottish woman who travels to a remote part of New Zealand with her young daughter after her arranged marriage to a frontiersman.

I watched this movie many years ago. The cinematography is amazing.

The Piano watch on Netflix

Famed author, Sophie Brown (Brooke Shields), travels to Scotland hoping to buy a small castle of her own, but the prickly owner, Myles, the Duke of Dunbar (Cary Elwes), is reluctant to sell to a foreigner. Working to find a compromise, the pair constantly butt heads, but they just may find something more than they were expecting.

I found this move light-hearted with a feel-good factor. A good Christmas choice.

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and Festive season. I do hope you that you have the chance to be with friends and family.

A big thank you all my lovely readers for following my blog, some of you for many years. I so appreciate your comments and questions do please keep them coming.

I write a fashion and beauty blog for women over 50 with the aim of inspiring mature women to continue to enjoy and have fun with their fashion choices. I have spent most of my working life in some way connected to fashion. I started my career in Fashion PR and then trained as an Image Consultant when my children were young. I subsequently worked in the corporate world running seminars, doing private coaching and speaking at conferences. I started my blog in 2009 as I wanted to share my years of experience working in the world of fashion. I truly believe we can continue to have confidence in the way we present ourselves. Our style may evolve with time and changing lifestyles, yet with a little knowledge and inspiration, we can all continue to have fun with fashion. As women of a certain age we are a growing demographic let us prove that we can also be a chic one.
